  • October 16

    The Northeast Nebraska Chapter of Compassionate Friends will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, October 16th at the Methodist Church in O'Neill. At this meeting members will be preparing for the annual Christmas Memorial Candle Lighting Ceremony which will take place on December 14th. Anyone dealing with the loss of a child of any age is invited to attend. The group offers discussion and friendship to help those who have lost a child. Steve and Janene have more information.     Joshua Luke, a Christian singer/songwriter originally from Yankton & based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota will perform an album release concert to celebrate his debut album, “Grace Is” on Friday, October 17th. The free concert will take place at Faith Baptist Fellowship in Sioux Falls beginning at 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 6:30. Joshua believes that music is the “sixth love language”, and he desires to express the love of Christ through the songs that he writes.     Soul on Fire, a Christian film based on John O’Leary’s true story, will be shown this weekend at the Rodeo Theatre in Burwell, Nebraska.   • October 18

    Heartland Youth Ranch of North Loup, Nebraska will hold their Fall Barbecue and Fundraiser on Saturday, October 18th. Activities for the children begin at 4:00. Live music by Country Flare begins at 5:00 and the barbecue gets underway at 6:00. The only cost is a free will donation. There will also be a silent auction.

    CAIN is bringing their Live And In Color tour to the Lincoln Berean Church in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, October 19th at 7 p.m. The tour will also include performances by Jon Reddick and Caleb & John, and speaker, author, and podcaster Annie F.     ‘MercyMe Live 2025’ is coming to Sioux City, Iowa on Sunday, October 19th at 7p.m. The concert will also feature Natalie Grant and Sam Wesley (son of Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe), and will take place at the Tyson Events Center. More information can be found online at MercyMe.org.

    The North Central Nebraska RC&D has partnered with communities to offer on-site paper shredding on October 20th. A truck from Security Shredding Services will be stopping in Ainsworth, Springview, Naper, Butte, Spencer, and Lynch. This is an opportunity to safely dispose of financial papers, medical records, and other sensitive documents. Magazines, newspapers, plastic bags, and x-rays will not be accepted.     The Creighton Women, Infant and Children’s immunization clinic will be held from 10:30 until 2:30 on Tuesday October 21st at the Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership Building in Creighton. For an appointment or for more information call (402) 385-6300.

    Julie Couch will present a mini-concert of classic country and oldies music at the Yankton Area Women’s Connection dinner meeting. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21st at Yankton’s River Rock Event Center. Julie will also be speaking about her journey to find a friend. This event will provide women of all ages an opportunity to encourage and inspire one another while enjoying a fun time of fellowship and friendship. The cost to attend is $15.     The next Norfolk Women's Connection lunch meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, October 21st at the Norfolk Country Club. Julie Couch, who has performed with the Johansen Sisters will provide the music. She is an award-winning singer, guitarist, songwriter and worship leader. She will also share her message "Lost and Lonely Girl, Journey to Find a Friend". The cost is $18. Reservations are needed by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15th.     The Todd Becker Foundation will bring their presentation, “Hear the Story. Be Moved.” to Summerland High School of Ewing, Nebraska on Wednesday, October 22nd. The free event will take place in the gymnasium at 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 6:40 PM. The night will feature a live concert from the band “All the Noise”, followed by an impactful and life-changing message from Keith Becker. For more information, please visit ToddBecker.org.

    Started in Kearney, NE, the Todd Becker Foundation was created in the spring of 2005 following the tragic death of 18-year-old high school student, Todd Becker, in an alcohol-related car accident. Keith, who was the older brother of Todd Becker, unfolds the true, and life-changing story of his younger brother’s untimely death and the events shortly thereafter that changed his own life. Since 2005, the Todd Becker Foundation’s assembly and outreach program has reached close to 100,000 students in over 500 high schools across the nation.

All moms are welcome. Sandhills MomCo meets at Calamus Trinity Methodist Church at 9:30 AM on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Each meet-up covers a different topic and stands alone.     The "Tougher Than Nails Trail Ride” will begin at 11 a.m. on October 25th at the Dallas Horseman's Club Arena in Dallas, South Dakota. Following the ride, supper will be served at 4:00 PM at the Dallas Fire Hall. Rev. Jeremy Morford will be the speaker. There will also be games and wagon rides. Proceeds from the free will offering will be donated to Suncatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy in Rapid City.

    Zach Williams’ ‘Revival Nights Tour’ is coming to Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday, October 28th. The concert will also feature Ben Fuller, We The Kingdom, and Leanna Crawford, and will take place at the Baxter Arena at 7 p.m. More information is available online at ZachWilliamsMusic.com.

    The 3rd Annual Pancake and Bingo Family Fun Night will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain. An all-you-can-eat pancake supper, complete with a variety of toppings and sausage will be served. The only cost for the pancake supper is a free-will donation. After supper, a lively evening of bingo will take place. The event is hosted by the Wowsome and Confirmation students. All proceeds will support the Chamberlain School's Helping Ends Meet program, which provides food for over 175 students every weekend. For more information call the church at 605-234-6698.

    There will be a benefit supper for Tyson Bohnet at O’Neill’s Assembly of God Church on Thursday, October 30th. A meal will be served beginning at 6:00 PM until gone, with a silent auction to follow. The benefit supper will help with medical expenses due to a car accident.     Teens Encounter Christ will hold an event on October 31st through November 2nd at Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton. This inter-denominational teen weekend will be led by teens and supervised by adults. There will be fun, food, laughter, testimonials and an opportunity to make new friends and encounter Christ.     Cleveland Bible Camp will be holding a fundraiser bake sale and garage sale Saturday, November 1st at the Atkinson Presbyterian Church between 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Rolls and coffee will also be available in the morning, and a soup luncheon will be held between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Proceeds will go toward improvements at the camp.

    The Reliance Christmas Carousel will be held from nine until three on Saturday, November 1st. This event will feature Christmas ideas from a variety of vendors including pottery, purses, hats, jewelry, homemade jams and baked goods, wooden crafts, doll clothes and other items.     An interactive murder mystery dinner theater event will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1st at the Innovation Center in Columbus, Nebraska. The cost is $60. Please register by October 6th by visiting 1CChurch.ChurchCenter.com. This event will be a fundraiser for the Columbus Community Haiti Project.

    A men’s bible study will take place at 9:00 AM every first Saturday of the month at Teal’s Westside Diner in O’Neill, Nebraska. This study is for high schoolers on up and men from every denomination or those seeking Christ. Any questions can be directed to Pastor Bob at 402-340-2447.

    Immanuel Lutheran Church located on North Highway 11 in Atkinson will be having their LWML Soup Supper and Bake Sale on Thursday, November 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. They will be serving various kinds of soups, along with salads and pies. Proceeds from this evening will go towards the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) Funding of Mission Service Projects.

    Jessen’s Family Dentistry and Dental Hygiene in O’Neill, Nebraska will offer free dental care to veterans on Friday, November 7th from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. They’ll provide exams and hygiene care, x-rays, fillings, and extractions for free. Veterans are asked to please call 402-336-4812 to make an appointment.     EPiC Ministry will be hosting their “Friends of Freedom” banquet on Friday, November 7th at the Wakefield Civic Center. Doors will open at 5:00 PM with the event starting at 6:00 PM. The evening will include a meal, an auction, and feature Christian Comedian Brad Stine. All are invited to come hear what God is doing in the lives of men and women behind bars.     The Clothing Closet, located at the First Christian Church in Burwell, Nebraska, is open every Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and all clothing is free. Clothing donations are also appreciated, and in-kind donations are encouraged. They also have a diaper program and offer help to foster parents.     A new worship service at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus began on Sunday, April 27th. This new alternative service will feature Contemporary Praise and Worship music, a message, and prayer. Fellowship is at eleven with the worship service from 11:15 until noon.
