    St. John's Lutheran Church in Atkinson, Nebraska is sponsoring a sloppy joe supper at West Holt High School on Thursday, January 29th. Sloppy joes will be served from 4:30 until they are gone. You can get more information by calling Janet Klement at 402-340-6524.

    Nebraska Right to Life is hosting the 2026 Nebraska Walk for Life & Gala in Lincoln on January 30th and 31st. Friday night’s gala features Nick Freitas as the speaker and will take place at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel. On Saturday, thousands will gather at the State Capitol building at 10:00 a.m. for the annual Nebraska Walk for Life. Participants will then walk to the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel, where Nick Freitas will deliver a pro-life message in the keynote address.   • February 1

    South Dakota Right to Life is hosting the 53rd annual Hour of Refection and Walk for Life on Sunday, February 1st in Pierre. The walk from noon until 1:00 p.m. begins on the state capitol grounds, and the hour of reflection takes place at 2:00 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda. Jenna Spellerberg from The Alpha Center in Sioux Falls will be the keynote speaker. More information is available online at SDRightToLife.org.

    Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership will hold the Neligh WIC and Immunization clinic from 10:30 until two on Thursday February 5th at the American Legion building in Neligh. For an appointment or for more information regarding the WIC or immunization programs call (402) 385-6300.

    High school students from Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota will perform at the Festival of Honor Choirs concert on Friday, February 6th at Wayne State College. The concert will take place in Ramsey Theatre at 4:00 PM and will feature a treble choir and mixed choir. Admission is $5 for adults with free admission for children 12 years of age or under.     The Reliance, South Dakota Area Community Development group will hold their 31st Annual Dinner Theater on Friday, February 6th and Saturday, February 7 at the Legion Hall in Reliance. Doors will open at 6 p.m. "Last Gasp at the Last Gulp" is a fast-paced comedy which is set in the late 1800s during the settlement of the area. The play is a Wild West–style whodunit filled with colorful characters, humor, and mystery. Hors d’oeuvres, a roast beef dinner and dessert will be served. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticket information is available by calling Gayle at 605-730-1462.

    The annual No Regrets Men’s Conference is coming to 1C- The Sanctuary in Columbus, Nebraska on Saturday, February 7th from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Men are invited to this free half-day conference featuring several well-known Christian speakers. This year’s theme is Surrender. No registration is required.     The 7th Annual Verdigre United Methodist Church Broasted Chicken Meal will be held from 4:00 p.m. until everything is gone on Saturday, February 7th. In case of adverse weather the event will be held on February 14th. The menu includes broasted chicken, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw, green beans, a dinner roll and dessert. You can dine in or carry out your meal. The only cost is a free will donation. Proceeds will support the various ministries of the Verdigre United Methodist Church.

    A men’s bible study will take place at 9:00 AM every first Saturday of the month at Teal’s Westside Diner in O’Neill, Nebraska. This study is for high schoolers on up and men from every denomination or those seeking Christ. Any questions can be directed to Pastor Bob at 402-340-2447.

  • February 8

    An all-you-can-eat breakfast featuring pancakes, biscuits and gravy, french toast, and sausage will be held on Sunday, February 8th from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Platte Center Fire Station in Platte Center, Nebraska. The event is being sponsored by Platte Center Rescue, with proceeds going towards life saving equipment. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids ages 4-12, and children four and under eat free.

    A Community Pancake Feed Benefit and Silent Auction to support the Kyle Borgelt family will take place on Sunday February 8th, from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell. A list of silent auction items and additional details are available on the church’s Facebook page. The church is located at 350 North Avenue in Burwell, Nebraska.

    The Royal Fire Department’s 43rd Annual Ice Fishing Tournament will take place on Sunday, February 8th from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the North End of Grove Lake. The entry fee is $30 per team, with food and refreshments served. Teams are welcome to sign up at the lake on the day of the tournament, or at the Calcutta at 7:00 PM on February 7th at the Royal Gym.     Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton, South Dakota invites men ages 17 and up to attend the ResGen Men’s Event simulcast—an encouraging day designed to equip men to lead with vision at home, work, and in their communities. The conference will be from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 21st. Some of the featured speakers include Tim Tebow, John Maxwell, and ResGen founder Tom Henderson.     The National Weather Service will provide Storm Spotter Training at 6:00 p.m. on March 3rd at the Northeast Community College Lifelong Learning Center in Norfolk. This training is especially for people living in Antelope, Madison, Pierce, Wayne and Stanton Counties as well as the Ponca Tribe. More information is available at weather.gov/omaha/spotter

    The Todd Becker Foundation’s annual STINT Discipleship Weekend will be held Friday, March 20th through Saturday, March 21st in Kearney, Nebraska. The theme this year is “In His Image”. This youth conference will provide high school students with two days of biblical teaching and moments of worship, with sessions like “Evolution VS Christianity: Finding a Foundation for our Identity”, & “In His Image: Standing for the Unborn”.     A teens bible study will take place every Sunday evening at the O’Neill Methodist Church starting on January 11th. The Bible study with Pastor Bob Wynn will meet from 6:30 until 7:15 PM. All ages from 13 to 19 are welcome and all denominations are welcome! This bible study will help to answer any questions of faith that you may have! The O’Neill Methodist Church is located at 404 Cedar Street in O’Neill, Nebraska.

  • Ongoing Fridays

    The Clothing Closet, located at the First Christian Church in Burwell, Nebraska, is open every Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and all clothing is free. Clothing donations are also appreciated, and in-kind donations are encouraged. They also have a diaper program and offer help to foster parents.
