  • February 7

    A Chili Cook-Off contest fundraiser will be held from five until seven on Friday, February 7th at the Wausa Auditorium. Prizes will be awarded. All proceeds will benefit the Wausa Covenant High League Youth Group. The cost to attend is a free will donation.   • February 7

    A Murder Mystery Dinner Theater will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7th at the American Legion Building in Neligh. Proceeds will be used to support the Neligh Rescue team. Tickets are $35.00 each. For more information or to get tickets call 402-887-6303. The production will be performed by The Little Red Hen Theater of Wakefield, Nebraska.

  • February 8

    The O’Neill Methodist Church will host a pancake and sausage feed on Saturday, February 8th from 8:00 until 10:00 AM. The only cost is a free will offering. The Methodist Church is located at 404 Cedar Street in O’Neill, Nebraska.

  • Feb. 14 (Reserve by Feb. 7)

    Whether you’re married, engaged, or in a serious relationship, Faith Wesleyan Church in Atkinson invites you to join them the evening of Valentine’s Day (February 14) for ‘The Happy Couple - Date Night’. It’s a chance to connect, laugh, and grow together with your significant other. Door prizes will be offered, a catered dinner will be served, and speaker Mark Gungor - the man behind the ‘Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage’ seminars - will present a talk to help strengthen your relationship as a couple. The event will take place from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on Valentine’s Day at Faith Wesleyan Church in Atkinson. Tickets are available through this Friday, February 7th.     Sandhills MomCo (formerly known as MOPS) will have their next meeting on Thursday, February 13th at 9:30 a.m. at Calamus Trinity Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. All moms are welcome.  The theme for this year is "Wild Hope" based on Isaiah 43:18-19. Sandhills MomCo meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meetups are stand alone, covering a different topic each time. Childcare is provided and there's no cost to attend.

  • February 14

    All youth between the ages of four and nineteen are encouraged to register to play soccer with the O'Neill area American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). Registration will be held February 10th through March 1st. Early registration ends on February 14th. The soccer season will run from April 12th through May 17th. Players and volunteers can register at AYSO629.org. Limited scholarships are available. For more information call the AYSO Regional Commissioner Maria Morales at 402 336 6599.

    Newsboys are bringing the Worldwide Revival Nights Tour to the Omaha area on Sunday, February 16th, 2025. The concert takes place at The Astro Theater in La Vista at 8:00 p.m. More information can be found at Newsboys.com.

  • February 18

    The next Norfolk Women's Connection meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, February 18th at the Norfolk Country Club. Jill McElhose from Pierce will provide the music. Alan and Loretta Sorensen from Yankton will be the speakers. They have raised and farmed with Belgian horses and will share their experiences. The cost for the meal and the program is $18.00.   • February 18

    All women and men are invited to the next Yankton area Women's Connection dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18th the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. Alan and Loretta Sorensen will be the special speakers. Alan has owned and enjoyed horses all his life and has farmed with Belgian draft horses for over 50 years. The couple will share highlights of their horse-farming experiences. The Sorensons have also been involved in prison ministries. Loretta is a freelance journalist, author, and publisher who has developed six of her own books. The cost for the meeting and for the meal is $15 per person.   • Feb. 22 (Early Registration Open)

    The 2025 Legacy Grandparenting Summit is coming to Burwell, Nebraska! The Burwell Baptist Church is simulcasting the event on Saturday, February 22nd from 9 until 4, and lunch will be provided. The theme for this year’s summit, ‘For This Purpose,’ aims to empower grandparents to embrace their divine purpose and the crucial role they play in their families’ spiritual journey. Great topics and resources will be presented by eight speakers including Dr. Jeff Myers, Dr. Crawford Loritts, and Anne Graham Lotz.     A There {4} Teen Gathering for girls in 8th-12th grade will take place at Journey Christian Church in Wayne, Nebraska on Saturday, February 22nd, from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. THERE{4} is a conference designed to inspire the next generation of high school girls to boldly live out their identity in Jesus Christ. Girls in attendance will experience a day filled with worship, speakers, and creative interactions! The cost, which includes meals and snacks, is $25.     The Verdigre United Methodist Church will hold a broasted chicken dinner on Saturday, February 22nd. Two pieces of chicken, hash brown casserole, green beans, salad and dessert will be served beginning at 4:00 p.m. You can dine-in, carry out or call 402 668 7280 for local delivery.     Springfield Community Bible Church in Springfield, South Dakota will host a free themed social gathering for all women on Saturday, March 15th at 2:30 PM.     The Todd Becker Foundation will host their 3rd annual STINT Discipleship Weekend Friday, March 21st and Saturday, March 22nd at First Baptist Church in Kearney, Nebraska. This year’s theme is ‘Gospel: Putting the Pieces Together.’ This two-day faith equipping youth event will help students grow in their understanding of the true Gospel and see how beautiful and wonderful our God truly is. Some of the speakers this year include Alisa Childers, Monique Duson, Brady Cone, & Lincoln Murdoch. The weekend will also feature a concert from the Christian pop-rock band Alive City.     Overflow Ministries will host their 5th Annual Women’s Conference in Bonesteel, South Dakota on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th. This year’s theme is Stronger Together, and Val Kleppen will be the guest speaker. Val is a wife, mother, writer, and speaker who resides in Central South Dakota. She is also a homesteading enthusiast, and the host of The Motherhood Experience Podcast.     We Are Messengers is bringing their ‘Where The Joy Is Tour’ to Beatrice, Nebraska on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025.     The National Weather Service Omaha Office is offering a training session featuring severe storm and advanced spotter talks. It will take place Tuesday, April 1st from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lifelong Learning Center on the campus of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. No registration is required.     The 21st annual Christian Cross Festival is taking place in Norfolk, Nebraska on Saturday, June 7th! The FREE festival will feature Joseph O’Brien, Sioux Falls native Cade Thompson, Colton Dixon, and headliner Mac Powell. Food vendors, tent camping, and other activities will take place, including a fireworks show to end the night. Additional artists and more festival details will be announced in the future.     The 3rd annual ‘Faith and Family Night at the Dixon County Fair’ is taking place in Concord, Nebraska on Saturday, July 12th.     The FREE Christian music festival LifeLight Hills Alive is returning to Rapid City July 19th and 20th for its 40th anniversary! So far, Saturday’s lineup includes Megan Danielle, Stephen Stanley, Austin French, Unspoken, and Sidewalk Prophets. Sunday’s performers include Eli Gable, Emerson Day, LO CLOUD (featuring former members of Sanctus Real and Kutless), Rhett Walker, and Crowder. The weekend-long festival in Rapid City’s Memorial Park seeks to share the Gospel and strengthen faith. It will also feature family-friendly activities, a variety of food vendors, and more!   • Ongoing Event

    A men’s bible study will take place at 9:00 AM every first Saturday of the month at Douglas Street Coffee Company in O’Neill, Nebraska. This study is for high schoolers on up and men from every denomination or those seeking Christ. Any questions can be directed to Pastor Bob at 402-340-2447.

  • Ongoing Fridays

    The Clothing Closet, located at the First Christian Church in Burwell, Nebraska, is open every Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and all clothing is free. Clothing donations are also appreciated, and in-kind donations are encouraged. They also have a diaper program and offer help to foster parents. More information is available by calling Sonja at 308-750-7085.
