The next meeting of the Northeast Nebraska Chapter of Compassionate Friends will be held Thursday, August 21st, at 6:30 PM at Ford Park in O'Neill for their annual potluck picnic. This meeting is for the entire family. Attendees are asked to please bring a main dish and a salad or dessert to share. Drinks and table service will be provided. The Compassionate Friends is a self-help support group for anyone who has experienced the loss of a child of any age. Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk will host an Awaken Workshop on Friday and Saturday, August 22nd and 23rd. This workshop is open to those of all denominations and will help you gain practical tools to share Jesus with others and build your confidence and creativity to share Jesus in ways that align with your unique personality and gifts. True North Summer Bible Adventure will take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Norfolk, Nebraska on Saturday, August 23 & Sunday, August 24. This vacation bible school for elementary age children will take place from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM each day. Norfolk’s Seventh Day Adventist Church is located at 204 North 8th Street in Norfolk, Nebraska.

August 23
For the second time this year, Columbus, Nebraska will have a Fly-In Community Spectacular event at noon on Saturday, August 23rd at the Columbus Municipal Airport. The event allows pilots to fellowship together and offers local residents a chance to learn more about aviation. A burger meal will be served to the public for a free-will donation and to pilots for free.
(The Fy-In event will be held at the Avcraft Incorprated hangar at 1334 Bill Babka Drive, on Columbus airport grounds.)

The Chamberlain Ministerial Association will hold their annual summer Community Church Service at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 24th at the American Creek Park. Please bring your own lawn chairs. Musicians for the choir are needed. A choir rehearsal will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Another rehearsal will be held on the morning of the church service. In case of rain the event will be held at the United Church of Christ. Refreshments will be served, and an offering will go to the Ministerial Association’s Traveler’s Fund. This event is supported by a Thrivent Action Team. Sybrant Community Church southeast of Basset will have their Back to School Blessing for area K-12th grade students and families on Sunday, August 24th during their 11:00 AM service. Following the service hot dogs will be served and there will be a water slide, bounce house, and games. All are welcome! Please bring a side, salad or dessert to share. Sandhills MomCo (formerly known as MOPS) will have their first meetup of the year on Thursday, August 28th! This year's theme is "Make It Awkward" inspired by Luke 5:1-11 . All moms are welcome. Sandhills MomCo meets at Calamus Trinty Methodist Church at 9:30 AM on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Each meet-up covers a different topic and stands alone. The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. will be at the Spencer, Nebraska baseball field from noon on Thursday, August 28th until eight a.m. on Tuesday, September 2nd. The replica honors the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The memorial offers a chance to honor the courage, resilience, and enduring spirit of our Vietnam veterans and to ensure that the sacrifices they made will never be forgotten. The 3rd annual Horizon Music Festival is a FREE Christian music festival taking place in Gering in western Nebraska over the Labor Day weekend (August 30 & 31). Saturday’s performers include Avery Graham, Joseph O’Brien, Strings & Heart, and Jonathan Traylor. Sunday’s lineup features Rachel Purcell, Thunderstorm Artis (R-teece), Jon Reddick, and Zach Williams. A community church service with Paul Daily of Wild Horse Ministries will be held Sunday morning at 11. Food vendors, kids’ games, and other activities will also be available at this free, family friendly festival. More information can be found online at HorizonMusicFest.org.

August 31
An outdoor worship service will be held at ten a.m. on Sunday, August 31st at Johnson Park in Norfolk. Local LCMS churches – Christ Lutheran, Grace Lutheran and Our Savior Lutheran will host this annual Worship in the Park event. Those attending are encouraged to bring family members and friends, and a chair or blanket. The theme of this year’s event is “Rejoicing Together” and will focus on unity in the body of Christ. It will feature worship music led by Hannah Cmeyla and a message from Pastor Caleb Wehling about Christ who is the mighty fortress. Food, fellowship and games will follow the service. In case of rain the event will held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.

LifeLight Sioux Falls is returning to Nelson Park in Sioux Falls on Sunday, August 31st! The FREE Christian music festival will feature We The Kingdom, Anne Wilson, Ben Fuller, Tenth Avenue North, Sioux Falls native Cade Thompson, Hulvey, and Josh Brewer. The festival will also have a BMX stunt show, food vendors, prayer tents, and more. More information on this FREE festival can be found online at LifeLight.org.

Ongoing Sundays
Lewis and Clark Lake Ministry will be holding Non-denominational Church Services this summer through Labor Day. They will meet at Weigand Campground on the Nebraska side each Sunday at 9:00 AM. There will also be a service at Pierson Ranch Amphitheater, Lewis & Clark Recreational Area in Yankton, SD at 10:30 AM. Any questions can be directed to Marilyn Harms at 605-274-1536.

A Community Block Party for the whole family will take place in Wausa, Nebraska on Wednesday, September 3rd from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. There will be games and activities, and grilling, popcorn, and desserts. The block party will take place at 600 East Grant Street in Wausa, Nebraska. All are welcome!

The Ribfest Car & Tractor Show and Shine will take place in Platte, South Dakota on Saturday, September 6th. There will be live music & St. Louis Baby Back Ribs, Kraut and more will be served! The event will take place from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church. The church is located at 300 West 7th Street in Platte. The only cost is a free will donation. A men’s bible study will take place at 9:00 AM every first Saturday of the month at Teal’s Westside Diner in O’Neill, Nebraska. This study is for high schoolers on up and men from every denomination or those seeking Christ. Any questions can be directed to Pastor Bob at 402-340-2447.

There will be a Cowboy Church Praise and Worship service at the WJ Ranch on Sunday, September 7th at 10:30 AM. The WJ Ranch is located 7 miles south of Yankton, South Dakota, just off of Highway 81. The service will feature poets and musicians from a 5 state area sharing praise and a message. All are welcome.

Faith Fest is a day of fun and faith for the whole family. It will be held from ten until four on September 13th at the Columbus Christian School located at 3418 15th Street in Columbus. There will be live music, raffles, food, vendor tables and games. Proceeds will support the Columbus Christian School. Bring your lawn chair and your neighbors, friends and family.

The next Norfolk Women's Connection luncheon will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 16th at the Norfolk Country Club. Alan and Loretta Sorensen will talk about farming with horses. They will also present a message titled "Relentless Love". Connie Jessen will provide the music. Reservations are needed by Wednesday, September 10th by calling or texting Vivian at 402-992-7692. The cost for the program and the meal is $18.

The Todd Becker Foundation will bring their presentation, “Hear the Story. Be Moved.” to Wagner High School on Wednesday, September 24th. The free event will take place in the gymnasium at 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 6:40 PM. The night will feature a live concert from the band “All the Noise”, followed by an impactful and life-changing message from Keith Becker. For more information, please visit www.toddbecker.org.
Started in Kearney, NE, the Todd Becker Foundation was created in the spring of 2005 following the tragic death of 18-year-old high school student, Todd Becker, in an alcohol-related car accident. Keith, who was the older brother of Todd Becker, unfolds the true, and life-changing story of his younger brother’s untimely death and the events shortly thereafter that changed his own life. Since 2005, the Todd Becker Foundation’s assembly and outreach program has reached close to 100,000 students in over 500 high schools across the nation.

The Clothing Closet, located at the First Christian Church in Burwell, Nebraska, is open every Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and all clothing is free. Clothing donations are also appreciated, and in-kind donations are encouraged. They also have a diaper program and offer help to foster parents. A new worship service at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus began on Sunday, April 27th. This new alternative service will feature Contemporary Praise and Worship music, a message, and prayer. Fellowship is at eleven with the worship service from 11:15 until noon. The church is located at 3602 16th Street in Columbus.
