  • Ongoing Christmas Event

    This Christmas season, Calvary Baptist Church will bring back “Lights on Broadway”, a special gift to Yankton and the surrounding communities. On the front of their building, they will have a beautiful display of sparkling lights dancing to festive Christmas music.

    The light show will take place each weekend in December on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. On the evenings of December 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th the public is invited inside between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM for free hot chocolate, cookies, photo opportunities, a bounce house, and kids’ games, crafts, and activities. The light show will also run December 26th to the 31st.

    A Christmas concert with Kevin and Heidi Cheng is taking place at the First Presbyterian Church in O’Neill on Monday, December 8th. The piano and violin concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature classic Christmas favorites with a western twist. A free-will donation will be taken and everyone is welcome to attend.

    The First Presbyterian Church is located at 204 East Everett Street in O’Neill, Nebraska.

    The next Yankton Area Women’s Connection meeting titled “Country Christmas” will take place on Tuesday, December 9th at 6:30 PM at Yankton’s River Rock Event Center. Ladies are invited to come celebrate Christmas with crafting, singing, and a special message from Cynthia Sheppard of Flandreau, South Dakota. Tickets for the meal and program cost $15. RSVP’s are needed by December 7th, and can be made by calling 402-254-2102 or 605-660-0378. The River Rock Event Center is located in Yankton, South Dakota at 2901 Broadway Avenue.

    Steven Curtis Chapman is celebrating 30 years of his album ‘The Music of Christmas’ with a concert in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, December 10th. Steven will play songs from the album, as well as some more hits and Christmas classics, live with strings and a choir! Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:00 at Westside Church.     The Christmas concert, "Sights and Sounds of Christmas", will share the reason for the Christmas season. It will be performed by the 36-voice Verdigre Community Chorus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10th at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. A free will donation is the only cost. Refreshments will be served after the performance.

    Sandhills MomCo (formerly known as MOPS) will have their next gathering on Thursday, December 11th in Burwell, Nebraska! This year's theme is "Make It Awkward" inspired by Luke 5:1-11. All moms are welcome. Sandhills MomCo meets at Calamus Trinity Methodist Church at 9:30 AM on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Each meet-up covers a different topic and stands alone. Childcare is also provided and there's no cost to attend. More information is available on the Sandhills MomCo Facebook page.

    The Sounds of Christmas will be presented at the Yankton Dakota Theatre on Thursday, December 11th at 7:00 PM. This uplifting and inspirational Christmas Show will feature the band "JJ and The Boys" along with many special musical guests and even some surprises! The only cost is a free will donation. The Yankton Dakota Theatre is located at 328 Walnut Street in Yankton, South Dakota.

    ‘Blue Christmas’, a special service of hope and healing, will take place at Christ Our Cornerstone Church in O’Neill, Nebraska on Sunday, December 14th at 6:30 PM. This will be a special service for those who are grieving this holiday season. Christ Our Cornerstone Church is located at 503 North 5th Street in O’Neill, Nebraska.

  • December 15

    The Christmas Closet will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 15th at the O'Neill Community Center. A soup supper will be provided. Those attending the event will be able to choose two gifts for their loved ones. Children will also be able to shop for a parent or caregiver. Crafts and activities will be available for children while their parents shop. To make a donation for the Christmas Closet, bring your new or lightly used gift items to Good News Radio, any O'Neill Church, the Holt County Economic Development Center, Bomgaars or other local businesses.     The O’Neill Ministerial Association will present the third annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill, Nebraska on Sunday, December 21st at 6:00 PM.

  • Ongoing Fridays

    The Clothing Closet, located at the First Christian Church in Burwell, Nebraska, is open every Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and all clothing is free. Clothing donations are also appreciated, and in-kind donations are encouraged. They also have a diaper program and offer help to foster parents.   • Ongoing Event

    A new worship service at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus began on Sunday, April 27th. This new alternative service will feature Contemporary Praise and Worship music, a message, and prayer. Fellowship is at eleven with the worship service from 11:15 until noon. The church is located at 3602 16th Street in Columbus.

    A men’s bible study will take place at 9:00 AM every first Saturday of the month at Teal’s Westside Diner in O’Neill, Nebraska. This study is for high schoolers on up and men from every denomination or those seeking Christ. Any questions can be directed to Pastor Bob at 402-340-2447.
